Abstract

This study discussed about teacher’s role that related with khd’s principle as found out in “Freedom Writer” movie. The writer used KHD’s principle, especially “Tut Wuri Handayani” to analyze main character in this movie. The object of this study was a “Freedom Writer” movie. This study applied descriptive qualitative as a methodology. The writer distinguished data through two categories. Firstly, “Tut Wuri” means giving support and following from behind. Secondly, “Handayani” means giving moral encouragement. This result showed that main character did some techniques and strategies in teaching learning process that reflected khd’s principle. Erin did various creativity to encourage students comfort in a class. This movie itself aimed to give the audience understand about education, morality, humanity, religion and race. Education as a dominant moral value that found in this movie. Keywords: teaching, khd’s principle, movie
