Abstract

ABSTRACT Ely Haryanti. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PANCASILA STUDENTS’ PROFILES IN ENGLISH LESSON AT SMKN PRINGKUKU IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2022/2023. Thesis. English Education Study Program of STKIP PGRI Pacitan. This study aims to describe the students' responses, the teachers' implementation, and the teachers' obstacles towards the implementation of the Pancasila students' profiles in English lesson. The subjects of this study consisted of a curriculum vice principal, two English teachers, and 42 students (22 students of class X TKJ 2 and 20 students of class X DPB 1). The study used qualitative research with a descriptive method. The research instruments were interview guidelines, observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. The process used three data analysis techniques: data reduction, data display, and verification. The results showed that: 1) students are free to express their positive responses or negative responses as a form of influence they feel from the implementation of the Pancasila students’ profiles in English lesson. In addition, most students gave their positive responses from the indicator options made by the researcher, it is reflecting how well the implementation of the Pancasila students’ profiles during English lesson took place in class; 2) teachers' obstacles in implementing the Pancasila students’ profiles include: a) teachers admitted to having difficulties to built students' characters as the impact of technological developments and too long distance learning; b) students' low respect for teachers so that students often communicate without using Krama Inggil Javanese to their teachers; c) many students are still not responsive to the implementation of P5; d) as much of students do not like learning English; e) small things that become bad habits of students at home are finally brought to school; f) and the class taught by one of the English teacher is a class that includes students under the range; 3) the implementation of the Pancasila students’ profiles carried out by teachers in English lesson, among others: a) teachers focus on using text and powerpoint media as well as tapes/recordings; b) the teacher's strategy so that students are always enthusiastic about learning English is that the teacher looks as good as possible and uses the game method; c) learning techniques that teachers usually use are communicative approaches and discussion/question and answer methods; and d) the results of classroom observations state that all aspects of the Pancasila students’ profiles are well implemented in English learning activities.
