Abstract
Ucik Intan Sholeha. INNOVATION IN LEARNING MEDIA: DEVELOPMENT OF INTERACTIVE AUDIOBOOK “DARE” AS AN EDUCATIONAL SOLUTION FOR STUDENTS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES IN LEARNING ENGLISH. Thesis. Pacitan: STKIP PGRI Pacitan, 2024. This research utilizes the Research and Development (R&D) approach to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of the "DARE" interactive audiobook as an innovative learning medium for students with intellectual disabilities in Class 7C at SLB YKK Pacitan. The ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) was applied to ensure a systematic and comprehensive approach to the design and development of the product. During the analysis phase, the learning needs of the students were identified to address the challenges they faced. Relevant learning materials, such as introductions, greetings, colors, and numbers, were structured in the form of daily stories and interactive quizzes. The product was validated by material and media experts, receiving average scores of 4.00 and 4.90, respectively, indicating “feasible” and “Strongly Feasible” quality. A small group try-out was conducted with three students from different categories of intellectual disabilities, showing positive responses to the audiobook. The field trial was then carried out with seven students, where significant improvements in student engagement and learning outcomes were observed. The average pre-test score was 4.85, while the post-test score increased to 7.57, with a gain score of 0.528, which falls into the "Moderate" category. The results of this study demonstrate that the use of the "DARE" interactive audiobook significantly enhances the engagement and learning outcomes of students with intellectual disabilities.
