Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan wujud dan makna metafora pada pemberitaan Covid-19 oleh media online CNN Indonesia serta mendeskripsikan fungsi penggunaan metafora pada pemberitaan Covid-19 oleh media online CNN Indonesia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penyediaan data berupa metode simak. Metode ini mempunyai teknik dasar dan teknik lanjutan. Teknik dasar yang digunakan yaitu teknik sadap. Kemudian, teknik lanjutan berupa teknik simak bebas libat cakap (SBLC) serta teknik catat. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode agih dan padan. Selanjutnya hasil penelitian akan dipaparkan menggunakan metode penyajian informal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan tiga belas ranah sumber wujud metafora pada pemberitaan Covid-19 oleh media online CNN Indonesia berupa: 1) tubuh manusia; 2) penyakit dan kesehatan; 3) binatang; 4) tanaman; 5) pembangunan; 6) mesin dan peralatan; 7) permainan dan olahraga; 8) uang dan transaksi ekonomi; 9) memasak dan makanan; 10) panas dan dingin; 11) cahaya dan kegelapan; 12) kekuatan,; dan 13) arah dan gerakan. Selain itu juga terdapat empat fungsi penggunaan gaya bahasa metafora dalam pemberitaan Covid-19 oleh media online CNN Indonesia berupa 1) fungsi emotif; 2) fungsi konatif; 3) fungsi referensial; serta 4) fungsi puitik. Kata Kunci: covid-19, fungsi, makna, media online, metafora ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the form and meaning of metaphors in reporting Covid-19 by CNN Indonesia online media and to describe the function of using metaphors in reporting Covid-19 by CNN Indonesia online media. This is qualitative research. This study uses the method of providing data in the form of observation method. This method has basic techniques and advanced techniques. The basic technique used is tapping technique. Then, advanced techniques in the form uninvolved conversation obsevation technique and note-taking techniques. The data obtained were then analyzed using distribution method and identity method. Furthermore, the research results be presented using an informal presentation method. The results showed that there were thirteen sources of metaphorical sources in the news of Covid-19 by CNN Indonesia online media in the form: 1) the human body; 2) disease and health; 3) animals; 4) plants; 5) construction; 6) machinery and equipment; 7) games and sports; 8) money and economic transactions; 9) cooking and food; 10) heat and cold; 11) light and darkness; 12) power; and 13) direction and movement. In addition, there were also four functions of using metaphorical language styles in reporting on Covid-19 by CNN Indonesia online media namely, 1) emotive functions; 2) conative functions; 3) referential functions; and 4) poetic functions.
